We've known over here for eons, for example, that Madison would sport a doubled cache of 6Mb compared to the current Itanic incarnation and we suggested here that the chip would debut at 1.3-1.5GHz.
Now, that nice chap, Nico, over at TecChannel tells us Intel Deutschland confirmed the 1.5GHz clock speed to him today.
Nico also learned that the chip will sport 410 million transistors, though his source wouldn't say what they all did, it seems.
As we know, the chip should launch towards the middle of next year though it'll keep the Itanium II label, like those reputed to be on the market already. It'll be similar in size to the current offering thanks to the use of the smaller 130 nanometer process -- as compared to the current 180nm incarnation.
Itanic the third will tip up some time in 2004 and will be the 90 Nanometer Montecito. µ
