Opto-link achieves 10Gbps mobo speed

And will emerge next year

AN OUTFIT spun out of the University of Tokyo claims it has succeeded in transferring data using an optical connection on the same planar at 10 gigabits a second.

According to Nikkei.net, Advanced Photonics sends data between semiconductors by using a waveguide made from epoxy resin, with a converter on each side to switch the signals.

The firm will have a commercial version ready in 2008, it hopes. µ
