Samsung holds DRAM throne in race with Hynix

Korean share up in battle of the bulge
Friday, 27 July 2007, 13:08
MEMORY TRACKING org DRAM Exchange said figures showed Samsung and Hynix are going head to head for market share but the former was the clear winner in the second quarter of this year.

The DRAM market has been rather bloody, but, nevertheless, DRAM Exchange reckons most of the players will continue to follow their plans for expansion with 12-inch wafers and 70 nanometre geometries the clear future.

DRAM Exchange's list of the top 10 branded DRAM manufacturers by sales show some players particularly suffering in the race. This table, courtesy of DRAM Exchange, shows sales in millions of US dollars, excluding foundry, flash, and CMOS image shipments.

There is an element of "seasonality" in the second calendar quarter but the minuses testify to the difficulties the Dramurai have had.

Apart from Etron, it appears. ยต
