Mobile tech company to float in US
Fri Nov 16 2007, 17:29

THE COMPANY which brought mobile TV to your handset without requiring 3G - Rok Entertainment Group - is set to make a $1 billion from its US float.

INQ readers will be familiar with Rok's steady roll out of its technology worldwide - entering the crucial Chinese market, for example.

Rok mareketing director, Bruce Renny, explained that the money will help to create a war chest to speed up deployment of its products as well as to fund further acquisitions.

"The company is valued both for its global reach and its bleeding edge technologies," Renny told the INQ.

One of the first applications for its mobile video compression technology was to create memory cards for Nokias which came pre-loaded with content.

One of these cards was the leading British TV show, Little Britain.

Rok also ventured into the world of VoIP with its Bluetooth based Viper offering. µ

Fail.

what a difference a year makes. the share price is down 99.9%, the market cap is a little under $11m now as opposed to that massive $1b mentioned in the article, the company has changed its name to Brenten Services Limited and now filed for administration. ROK, meet hard place. Or maybe a better joke would be about rocks + flotation then sinking, etc. You can see where I'm going with this.
