Bush praises Micron

Liked the "big machines"

THE "big machines" at Micron's fab in Manassas received much praise from US President George Bush yesterday.

The plant, which makes semiconductors, for MP3 players, smart phones and satellite navigation systems, received a visit from Bush who admitted to staff that he hadn't got a clue what went on there.

He said the people at the plant tried to explain all the "big machines" to him and Bush "played like he understood".

According to the Washington Post, Bush said that the outfit is a flagship for his economic policies. Bush meant that Micron initially laid off 560 workers but has since undergone a $3.5 billion expansion that has brought in 800 new employees.

The Washington Post also noted that a few days' before the president's visit, crews rushed to superficially spruce up the plant. They hung blue velvet curtains in the assembly room, played patriotic music through speakers, and set up a large promotional backdrop displaying the various products that use Micron's chips.

So, if the plant was a microcosm of Bush's economic policy then it would be fair to say it is confusing to the bloke who invented it, it is superficially tarted up for the public, over-the-top with meaningless patriotism and desperately interested in what people get up to in their sex lives.
