AN EX-AMD WORKER is seeking exemplary damages for her son's birth defects, claiming that the chip maker failed to tell her that the noxious chemicals she was working with were, err, noxious.
Chimpzilla stands accused of being responsible for Ryan Ruiz's missing lower right arm and brain damage. The mother of the 16 year old, Maria Ruiz, worked in AMD's Austin, Texas, Fab 14 clean room from 1988 to 2002 and lawyers claim she 'worked with hazardous chemicals that caused her son's devastating birth defects.'
The lawsuit alleges Ruiz was 'wrongfully exposed to birth defect-causing hazardous chemicals during her pregnancy' and that AMD 'knowingly failed to protect its workers from hazardous chemicals,' including ethylene glycol monoethyl ether acetate and 2-ethoxyethyl acetate. The woman also claims that, on two occasions, she needed medical attention due to inhaling chemical fumes.
"Like millions of Americans, Maria Ruiz did not realise that 'clean rooms' are designed to keep damaging dust particles from semiconductor wafers during manufacturing, not to protect men and women exposed to a spectrum of hazardous chemicals and fumes," said the woman's lawyer, perhaps inadvertently casting aspersions on the intelligence of AMD employees and the American public.
TV viewers in the Austin area are being asked to contact the law firm if they have any dirt on AMD's clean room procedures. Why the woman has waited 16 years before bringing the law suit remains unexplained. ยต

Took that long to notice the issues ? Maybe it's not just the son that has brain damage.
But I'm sure it's just a lawsuit shark that smelled the money in the water. We've seen enough films, we know how this works.
First they build the case and get as many signatures as possible to go class-action.
Then they enter "aggressive negotiations" with the firm, aiming for billions in damages. Finally, they settle before the Court actually gets involved, reaping big fat millions.
And the signatories will get $1000 for their trouble, while the lawyers will get a nice fat $20,000,000 bonus at the end of the year.
Ahhh, Justice.
Maybe it's because she conceived her child with Hector. That would explain some of the brain damage.
At first i wsa going to babble about if not 890 chipset, as none is known?, at least AM3+ should be Ulties territory.

Then thinking Cyanideosis, that accumulation of softplastic& gaseous metals, in use, applied with Heat, surplus GAS absorbed thru mucus membranes of eyes & lungs, skin as well.Eyeballs have been known to turn red/orange like tomatoes, although told not threating, indeed, BIG Problem.

Then it hit me, with so many ethyl solvents, plus gycol for hyper maximum penetration, plus poison for lot, with acrylic binder, so its smoothly crosses from blood to ovaries in defusion of gel, then bound up some of DNA that Child was created from.

Wow, Ultie Doctor, yet unfortuneately, its all part of expose & see, I suppose after chemicals wore off, worker became more aware of pressence llessening with perhaps differnt feeling from affected areas.

No woman should have to be exposed again to such chemicals if impregnable, yet winning lawsuit about only way to really scare them. This plant has closed? & now new Warehouse only facility have moved to/from Barton Springs complex, which is vacant.Due to some horrid parrasite frog or worm fellow?, that might also be affect by operation of facility.

Isn't OSHA supposed to be responsible for regulation of this sort of thing? Like requiring signs and proper safety clothing for employees that work in conditions that are normally unsafe? Such as requiring breathing apparatus when exposed to fumes? How could a chip fab not have that already in place?
