A PRODUCT CHANGE notification on the Intel site indicates that it is almost ready to release an upgrade to its 875P mobo which supports the future Prescott microprocessor.

Intel describes the change to the D875BPZ as containing a VREG enhancement, and says it will move from supporting the Northwood FMB 2 to the Prescott FMB 1.5.

There's a new BIOS as well, which fixes the E9 POST hang. When that BIOS is released detailed release notes will be filed at http://developer.intel.com/design/motherbd/BZ/bz_bios.htm

Intel is telling its customers to start evalutating the BIOS the minute it becomes available, and says that the changes won't affect Microsoft Windows operating system software driver stack.

Intel said: "The changes have been thoroughly evaluated to ensure that there is no negative quality, reliability or functional implications to our customers".

In English, this means Intel expects it to work. µ
