Electronic Arts chooses AMD workstations

Slough is not in London...

DUAL WORKSTATION SYSTEMS using Athlon MP technology are beginning to win corporate accounts.

A few days back, AMD said that Daimler Chrysler was to use Athlon boxes and now Electronic Arts is committing to use multiprocessing two way systems across the world.

A release from AMD spinners did not reveal how many boxes EA will use, but claimed that the firm had chosen Athlons because it outperformed "competitive" dual systems by more than a third.

We presume these are Intel-based boxes.

EA studios using the systems are in Slough (which is not "in London", AMD), Las Vegas, Orlando, Redwood Shores, Seattle, Tokyo, Vancouver and Melbourne.

The machines will be used in different departments by EA, and Scott Cronce, chief technology officer at EA, said performance, reliability, and compatibility had led the firm to use the MP 1800+ as part of its workstation fleet. ยต
