A BIOS UPDATE on Dell's website which aims to fixed some issues with an earlier BIOS, does rather less than that.

In fact it has a tendancy to squish Optiplex GX60s completely, a posting on pyroport.com suggests.

Investigating his own failed BIOS flash, Tony Pottrell learned from "an insider at Dell" that, "the A06 BIOS has corrupted the system BIOS of many GX60s and as yet we do not know why."

The A06 BIOS is available on Dell UK's support website but many of those downloading it have had to endure a motherboard swap with Dell, it appears.

The BIOS claims to fix certain things in the A03 BIOS, but, in Tony's experience, results in flashing lights and panic.

Perhaps Dell should take it down. µ
