Google buys AOL chunks

GoogAOL? AOOLE? Compromised morales?
Fri Dec 16 2005, 22:41
ACCORDING TO the New York Times, Google is buying 5% of AOL for a cool one billion dollar. The stake is not high enough to matter in a meaningful sense, but it sure ties the two companies together.

It also slams the door in the face of MS, not in a friendly way either, and that is probably more the point of all this. The bidding was supposedly down to the wire, and Time Warner finally accepted when Google agreed to give AOL favored search treatment. Could this be the top of a slippery slope for Google? µ
