Kazaa has agreed to pay a "substantial sum" to compensate for the infringement of musicians and music publishers over the network. Supposedly, the NMPA has been negotiating with the fellas at Kazaa for several months now.
The settlement isn't quite final just yet, as it's still requiring final approval of the formal agreement by the board of the NMPA which sponsored the litigation on behalf of publishers.
NMPA president and CEO David Israelite claimed the anticipated settlement, "represents an important victory for songwriters, music publishers and music fans alike."
He believes the agreement will be a milestone in the "transformation of the digital music marketplace," even though no one uses Kazaa these days anyway. µ
