ADOBE IS is donating some of its Flash code to the Mozzarella Foundation to jack under the bonnet of its Firebadger browser.

The donation, was announced at the Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco, and will be the largest contribution of code to Mozilla in the Open Saucer's history.

The Foundation has set up an open-source project called "Tamarin" to manage the future contributions from Adobe.

Frank Hecker, the Mozilla Foundation's executive director said that the improvements should be installed in an upgraded Firefox by the first half of 2008.

It will mean that many Web applications run smoother and quicker in Firefox. ยต
