European ICT awards kick off

A world of new possibilities

TRANSITIVE CORPORATION has been awarded €200,000 for its QuickTransit software translation system at this year's European ICT awards, taking place for the first time at CeBIT.

The winning program allows users to translate software across platforms and processors without the need for reprogramming, in some cases having the translated code run faster than the original, boasts the company. Basically, QuickTransmit promises users quick and direct software migration, reducing software development costs.

Media commisioner and award-giver Viviane Reding said as she handed the prize to the Manchester company reckons that ICT "opens up a world of new possibilities - new ways of working and new ways of living." Presumably, in the dark with your only company the dull glare of your monitor.

The idea behind the awards ceremony is to shoot Europe up the techy-ladder and to encourage the development of "state of the art ICT products."
