Sony must cut PS3 prices

The first cat is the dearest

WHILE SHOPS in Canada have been increasing the price of the PS3 due to currency changes, Analysts are advising that Sony must hack its price downwards very soon indeed.

GamesIndustry.com quotes Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter as saying that the PS3 will sell out in Europe by May. He also thinks that there will be a price cut of more than EUR 150 expected inside 12 months.

Pacher said that at the moment Sony can charge what it likes for the PS3 because it is peddling them to 'hardcore users'. These are like Star Trek fans who watched 'Enterprise' knowing that it was pants because it was still Trek. However to attract more balanced users, Sony will have to drop the price to about £300 in about a year's time.

He predicts that there will be a repeat of the shortages seen in the US as the the UK's stock allocation will "quickly disappear" after PS3 goes on sale.

Sheesh kebab. µ
