Laptop takes bullet for US soldier

Shouldn't have shown pictures of wife and family

PANASONIC is showing off pictures of a bullet proof laptop it claims took a bullet for the soldier who was holding it. How crap can that be?

A snap of the CF-M34 Toughbook laptop complete with its bullet hole can be seen here. It can be seen that the bullet went through the screen and gave the keyboard a good pummelling before stopping.

Apparently the laptop was the constant companion of one soldier of the 82nd Airborne Division and was taken through the mountains of southeastern Turkey and into the war of Iraq.

The laptop might not have had much difficulty deflecting the bullet. People who know a bit more about bullets than I would like, claim that the hole is low calibre and might have been fired from a long distance away. Either way, it does not look like that laptop is going to survive to fight another day.

It has been estimated that there is a $858 million market in 2007 for tough laptops, and not just amongst the military either. Anyone who invents an INQ laptop which can survive cigarette ash, beer and wine tipped over it, and provide a defibulator attachment is onto a winner, init? ยต
