Geforce 7600 GT has 12 pipes at 560 MHz+

Partners to clock to 585+ MHz

WE have some additional details about the Geforce 7600GT card. Nvidia managed to mess with ATIs plans to make RV530, Radeon X1600 cards as 128 bit cards only. Its 6800 GS with 256 bit interface won the hearts of consumers and benchmarketeers. I guess now it's pay back time. Nvidia won't continue that trend as you need a bigger die for a card that supports the 256 bit memory interface.

Geforce 7600 GT will still be 128 bit card but so also are the X1600XT/PROs. We reckon that 7600 GS is meant to fight X1600PRO and both G73 based 7600 cards will end up with a 128 bit memory interface.

I suspect that both 7600 GT and GS will be able to outperform the current X1600 XT and PRO cards and 7600 cards will be able to do 12 pixels shaders per clock. It is just enough to match ATI's offering.

But beware! ATI has X1800GTO cards coming soon powered with 12 pipelines and 500 1000 MHz clocks and 256 bit interface. We think that this card has to smash Geforce 7600 GT performance as 7600 GT is 128 bit only card while ATI card works with twice as fast 256 bit memory interface. It's a pay back strategy and we can bet that both cards will be priced similarly.

Some of the usual overclocking partners will clock Geforce 7600 GT to 585 MHz and probably even higher and those cards are ought to perform even faster. Our friends at Dailyanadstech have some pictures of the card and you can check them here. µ

Nvidia Fermi

Will graphics cards built with Nvidia's Fermi GPUs be a hit?
