AMD confirms discovery request granted

But then INQ readers knew that already
Mon Jul 04 2005, 08:59
AS READERS of the INQ already know, a US district court granted AMD leave to send out requests to a number of large OEMs to keep emails and documents they hold relating to an Intel antitrust case last week.

We revealed on Saturday that Michael Dell, Carly Fiorina, Mike Capellas and dozens of others were served letters by AMD last week.

We also revealed that nine major firms have already said they will cooperate with AMD. This latter article also includes the names of the OEMs, distributors and retailers that AMD has in its sights.

Best Buy has agreed to comply without limitations. Toshiba has declined to comply. AMD said it would issue subpoenas to firms that didn't voluntarily comply.

AMD took the unusual step of issuing a press release on Sunday, a holiday weekend, saying that a Delaware court granted its motion to file document preservation subpoenas.

One example of the discovery request subpoena, for firms beginning with the letter "A", can be found on the INQ site, in PDF form. ยต
