AMD 'wire up the poor' scheme seems to run out of steam

50/15 or 25/80ish

CHIP MAKER AMD thought a good way of selling chips would be to get poor people wired up to the web.

It came up with scheme called 50/15 which it said would help wire up half the world (50%) by 2015 (15!).

The corporation used its muscles to get its partners to help out. A couple tipped up but the evidence now seems to be that they've all lost interest.

At least that's what a squint at this page suggests. µ
