Nvidia and ATI end up in Hall of Shame

Tuesday, 26 June 2007, 22:21
CUSTOM PC took a trip down the memory lane, but unlike most of the publications, guys did not remember all the latest and all the greatest from the 3D industry, but rather remembered all of the tacky moves that both companies displayed in the past.

We remember Nvidia's 3DMark2001SE texture filtering cheat the most, since it entered a months long feudal row between Graphzilla and yours truly. Of course, Rage 128 MAXX also comes to my mind, with ATI's CEO claiming they invented multi-GPU approach and specifically mentioning a product that company failed to deliver drivers… all in all, there is quite a lot of dirt around and both companies did a lot of dubious moves in the past.

We haven't seen many reviews ofAuzentech sound cards, but now things are changing. Elite Bastards looked at the X-Meridian DIN, expansion board for Auzentech X-Meridian series of cards.

XSreviews tested Antec Sonata III case, bringing a set of interesting improvements over classic enclosures. Then again, is it worth the price?

Bit-Tech had several things on its mind. First is a review of a Xbox 360 game that nobody is interested off, so we'll skip mentioning that in todays' roundup, while it is always interesting to see what Roy Taylor, British chap, now Senior VP of Content Creations. In short, head honcho for a marketing development scheme TWIMBP.

HardwareSecrets went on to show how to test performance of your PC with Quake 4, and compare it to results they're getting. If you want to have apples-with-apples comparison with test components over at HardwareSecrets, head over there and check the article.

ComputerShopper posted a review of Dell Inspiron 531, a machine that author commented as a fine midrange system. We would leave for you to decide…

LegitReviews decided to forfeit reviews of geeky PC hardware and posted a review of Gennum nX6000 Bluetooth headset. This should bring your coolness factor to a higher level - of course, if you don't mind occasional "whoopsie" with the signal.

After a brief break, IT-Review.net came up with overclocking article that touches both camps: ATi Radeon HD 2900XT and Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 640MB.

TweakTown posted DDR-3 Gaming Performance Analysis, an detailed look into how DDR3 will (or will not) make a difference in world of gaming… and conclusion is quite obvious.
