Spinola signs up, Skype crashes

Coincidence?
Thursday, 16 August 2007, 14:31
NEW-FANGLED messaging wossname, Skype has fallen in a heap this morning just hours after well-known luddite, Inq hack and curmudgeon Andrew Thomas signed up for the service. Skype has been down all morning UK time.

A posting on Skype's forum today blames P2P networking issues, saying that:
"Some of you may be having problems logging in to Skype. Our engineering team has determined that it's a software issue and hopes to have this resolved quickly. Meanwhile, you can simply leave your Skype client running and as soon as the issue is resolved, you will be logged in. We apologize for the inconvenience."

But can it be mere coincidence that the service was running perfectly until the man who considers any free software to be an evil communist plot joined up? We suspect not. ยต
