PGP creator forgives Biden

Backs Obama and Biden
Tue Sep 02 2008, 09:20

THE MAN WHO GAVE THE WORLD PGP encryption to fight off Delaware senator Joe Biden's Comprehensive Counter-Terrorism Act has found himself on the same side as his former rival.

Phil Zimmermann is backing the Obama/Biden ticket dispite the fact that Biden had a history of developing anti-privacy legislation that inspired Zimmerman to fight him.

Zimmermann told Slashdot that, considering the disastrous erosion in our privacy and civil liberties under the current administration, he felt, " positively nostalgic about Biden's quaint little non-binding resolution of 1991 ".

In fact, he was actually a little spooked that people might get the impression that he supported Bush. However he now claims he never had any beef with Biden. He said that when someone serves in the Senate for 30 years, we have to judge them by their whole body of work.

Although he admits that he has no idea what Biden's position would be today on the issue of encryption, he said he imagines it has changed, but does not give any indication why he thinks that is so.

He points out that none of Biden's "pro-RIAA, pro-FBI" legislation ever passed. Which we would have thought made Biden fairly useless rather than any champion of free speech. µ

The lesser of evils

The lesser of evils is still evil. This will continue until voters hold the politicians accountable instead of make excuses for them.

Just another leftist skank

Just goes to show ya, that to a true, far-leftist skank like Zimmerman, hypocrasy comes naturally.

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
