BBC censors Web contributors

GO OFF TOPIC, express a controversial point of view or be a persistent questioner and you can expect to find yourself "pre-moderated", a BBC editor admitted today.

"Feedback", a programme on BBC Radio 4 which canvasses brickbats and bouquets about the venerable corporation, had received complaints from listeners whose contributions to the BBC Communities site had disappeared without trace or who had emails telling them their contributions were being pre-moderated.

Pre-moderated, according to an editor of "BBC Communities" allowed the thought controllers to put your contribution in a queue and decide whether it would ever see the light of day.

This is a little different from our own Hermit on our "Community Web Site", who is likely to moderate the h*ll out of you if you remain on topic for longer than one message.

Still, we expect the BBC has certain standards to maintain and all that... µ
