ATI offers Conroe Crossfire incentive

ATI IS is preparing a rather interesting campaign with Intel and Asus and the buyers are to benefit.

Any customer who buys an i975 motherboard from Asus together with an ATI X1900 Crossfire card will get an $80 rebate on the price.

ATI wants to use the momentum as for the time being as it still doesn't have a Conroe chipset ready. We know its RD600 is almost done and ATI already has working samples but the frim knows it won't be able to meet the launch date.

Until its RD600 is ready, ATI plans to support Intel, as its key goal is to sell as many Crossfire cards as possible.

We also expect ATI to reduce the prices of X1900 Crossfire cards and it may make perfect sense to buy Conroe with two ATI cards and an Intel board.

We are not sure about the schedule of this campaign but it might happen even before Conroe's oficial launch.

Nvidia might decide to let SLI work on Intel marchitecture as well. We know it is talking to Intel but the final decision is yet to be made. µ
