Now, all this ranting about 17-inch laptop, well, if you are living in a small room, you will understand how exquisite it is to own a laptop that can convert easily to a TV.
But it seems that technoworld has not the cheapest one at £608+VAT - now just a little effort to reach the £599 barrier. The Acer Aspire 1801WSMi is no way a slouch though. Features a P515 processor running at 2.93GHz, 512MB memory and a 60GB HDD plus you'll get the 17-inch TFT screen powered by a PCI-e Radeon X600 with 64MB DDR memory. Firewire, USB ports, Memory card readers, 8-cell Li Ion Battery pack and a Dual Layer DVD writer complete the list. Now if someone could come with a 17-inch Turion Laptop, that would be nicer and cheaper.
Geforce 7800GTX cards are already out in rage in the US and the cheapest ones cost $599, less than the 6800 Ultra that it beats easily. One of the better at Newegg is the XFX PVT70FUN7 card running at 450MHz with 256Mb of 256-bit GDDR3 memory clocked at 1.25GHz. Everything is there including 24 pixel pipelines and two DVI ports.
Another fine Dell Laptop offer. Dell Inspiron 1200. An entry level laptop we presented some editions ago. It is now available at an exceptional £319+VAT and shipping. Come on Dell, bring the price of those laptops below £299+VAT. You'll get a Celeron M running at 1.3GHz, 256MB DDR2 memory, a 30GB HDD, screen, DVD Combo but no carry case..
Buy is selling the cheapest X800XT All in Wonder card in the US. It all depends on how much you want to cut your price though. First there is a mail in rebate of $50, than a $15 everything on sale coupon and then a $30 should you use the Buy.com Visa card. All in all the price can fall down to $282.77 should the last one work. The X800XT AIW card is the one to run for especially if you have an AGP motherboard. It is practical, relatively cheap and won't let you down in games.
Kipman send me that link to a Gainward Ultra 1760PCX GS which is a PCI Express card with enhanced memory speeds. You get a standard Geforce 6600 with a 400MHz clock speed and 128MB 128-bit memory running at 560MHz. At £55+VAT, it is the cheapest you will find around. The memory does not get cooled but with DVI, SVideo and D Sub output, you can't get a better value PCI-e card.
