65 nanometre yields are not brilliant

Absolutely not so fabulous
Tue Feb 13 2007, 14:37
YOUNG MARK OSBORNE has an interesting piece at Fabtech about a heap of myths clouding the question of 65 nanometre yields.

He says the "vast majority" of chip makers, and numbers many major foundries, are still yielding less than 50 per cent.

He quotes KLA-Tencor's chief operating officer as saying that, but he Fabtech notes that Intel appears to be an exception.

The moral, he says here, is we can't take 65 nanometre production for granted in 2007. µ
