THE HIGH TECH Computer Corporation announced in a very low key email and not at a London glitzy launch this time, their new HTC Touch Pro.
This is their advanced next generation business phone bringing a beautiful new angle to mobile business productivity – or so we’re lead to believe by the press release.
It’s a Window Mobile 6.1-based handset, with a five-row sliding QWERTY keyboard
and the ever-so-present touch screen – creating a hybrid business phone of
sorts. It rocks up with the same 3D GUI as the much-anticipated Touch Diamond,
only now with more business-focused enhancements such as built-in TV-out for
those crucial Powerpoint presentations.
"The HTC Touch Pro and Touch Diamond have created a new generation of HTC touch devices that make the promise of the one-hand, one-touch mobile Internet a reality," says the marketing maguffin. "HTC Touch Pro is for those customers that demand the ease of use and enjoyment of TouchFLO 3D and want the styling of the Touch Diamond but also need the powerful mobile business experience that HTC delivers.”
HTC Touch Pro weighs in at 165g, measuring 102 x 51 x 18.05mm, with a 2.8-inch VGA touch screen and 3.2MP camera for video calling. Connectivity is hosted by the Qualcomm MSM 7201 528MHz chipset, capable of WCDMA/HSPA 900/2100MHz HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA, with Wi-Fi to the tune of 802.1b/g. It also arrives with onboard GPS/AGPS too. Battery life comes from the 1350 mAh power-cell, offering up eight hours talktime or two-weeks standby.
The HTC Touch Pro will be available to customers across all major European, Asian and the Middle East markets around late summer, with no prices set as yet. The North American and Latin American versions of Touch Pro will have to wait until later in 2008... and rightly so, too. µ
