Intel rolls into Palestine

Education partnerships nurture Arab talents
Tuesday, 27 May 2008, 10:01

SPEAKING AT THE Palestine Investment Conference in Ramallah recently, Intel's corporate vice president unveiled a number of educational initiatives meant to help Palestine set itself on the right technological track.

Will Swope talked about how the company was working within the US Palestinian Partnership (UPP) to ensure speedy ICT development in Palestine through education.

"Being in Palestine today and witnessing the great talent that the youth have to offer inspires us to collaborate further with Palestinian educators and technology innovators to up-level education curricula and help drive ICT development," gushed Swope, who also gave Birzeit University a new multi core computer on the same visit.

Chipzilla noted that it would be beefing up its support of the Intel Higher Education Technology Entrepreneurship Programme, which aims to turn today's students into tomorrow's entrepreneurs and technology boffins.

Working with USAID and the Palestinian Information and Communication Technology Incubator (PICTI), Intel also said it would be launching a competition for yoof to come up with the best business plan, an exercise the company hopes will stimulate student interest in entrepreneurship.

The General Manager of PICTI , Laith Kassis reckoned the
organisation's partnership with Intel and USAID, "allows us to further nurture the diverse Arab talents and enhances the growth of dynamic businesses in Palestine. We are indeed proud of this partnership and look forward to building on the successes we have achieved so far."

On a roll, Intel went on to re-open its 'Computer Clubhouse' in Ramallah, which had been done up and equipped with top-of-the-range, brand new and shiny tech. The clubhouse will purportedly cater to all sorts of technology-orientated after-school activities.

To top it all off, Intel was also in talks with the Palestinian education ministry, promising them a donation of about 900 low-cost Intel classmate PCs.

And all in return for a little commitment on Palestine's part to the still rather unpopular Wimax. ยต

Nice gesture...

Hmm... Is this "multicore computer" anything more than a desktop PC? But then what's the point of giving them anything more if it'll just be trashed the next time the Izzies decide they need do another live-fire exercise?

And the promise that the Palestinians won't...

...rocket Intel's Israeli fab like they do to much of the rest of Israel I'm sure. Smells like protection money to me.

Raising the Stakes ...Sweetening the Pot.

"On a roll, Intel went on to re-open its 'Computer Clubhouse' in Ramallah, which had been done up and equipped with top-of-the-range, brand new and shiny tech. "

Do these Computer Clubhouses have Occasioning Mentors ..... Intel Knights Pioneering Virtualisation and ITs Alternate Reality Games Facility .... although they too can be Virtually Supplied/Rendered to Media for Delivery in ITs Broad Band Productions.

That of course would Entail that there be Intel Knights Tales 42 Tell. And that is no less than an Enlightened Script 42 Tell the Tales of All that IT Entails.
