White case will make your PC look like an Apple

Hardware Roundup Athlon's birthday

IF YOU WANT to send in reviews, hardware or software, don't hesitate, bring them on. We are particularly fond of exotic hardware that you won't find elsewhere. Even if the review is not in English - as long as it is interesting and entertaining - send it in! Also I would be glad if someone could point me to a recent directory of hardware websites.

Apart from Apple's iconic cases, rounded, white computer cases have never been spotted. Until now. DoomedPC ponders the merits of the beautiful Akasa Zen Case, an elegant piece of technology. The white colour is painted on, which means that it can chips off to leave dark spot. And there is no window. But otherwise, it is a rather good deal at only £32. More white cases please.

Xbitlabs checks the XFX Geforce 7600 GT XXX Edition Graphics Card with all due respect. That card is compared to the X1800GTO and to the 6800GS. The card is a one-slot model with two DVI ports. Of course, it is overclocked by default, which means that it is bloody fast but even them , it can be overclocked even more, and does not end up consuming more. The card can reach X1800XL speeds but is hampered by the relatively inefficient cooling. Slapping two of those babies in a SLI system would probably not be such a bad idea.

Over at Anandtech, Wesley Fink compares the best in DDR2 memory from Corsair to OCZ. DDR2? There's already talks for GDDR5. On one side the CM2X1024 6400C3 and on the other the OCZ Ti Alpha PC2-8000 VX2. Anandtech uses a Core2 Duo platform for good measure. Which memory is better than the other depends on what you are looking for as Wesley concludes. While the memory makers used the same memory chips, they used different approchaes.

Another laser printer - this time a mono one - is tested at Trustedreviews. The Epson EPL-N2550 differs from other printers by its format, A3. This means that it can print almost poster sized printout and you can finally start stitching A4 size magazine together. Now what is even more precious about that machine is that it is cheap and claim speeds of 30ppm for A4 and half that for A3, which is impressive. With a print resolution of 600dpi, the cost of print goes down to 1.61p per A4 page, which is damn cheap.

PCPerspective reviews the Corsair HX620W Modular Power Supply. Corsair explores new boundaries when it comes to product range. After high end memory modules and USB drives, it is now the turn of power supply units and cooling systems. I would not be surprised if Corsair came with video card coolers and casings. Anyway, for the time being, we are presented with a quality 620w, triple +12v output, with a quiet 120mm fan, a five year warranty and ribbon like device cables. That's on top of a five year warranty.

Never mind the looks, Shuttle newest XPC marks the return of the little mini me. The XPC started something really special, just like ECS Desknote, a new format that set the standard. The SN27P2 is an AM2 based barebone based on the nForce 570 Ultra. It has only two expansion slots. Otherwise, it has the same capabilities of a mid-range PC including Firewire, GbE, eSATA and HD Audio. Space inside is always a premium - as in Japan - and it is not cheap plus it will make a rather poor overclocker. Other than that, it is fine. µ
