MAJOR PC MAKER Dell has released a notebook PC which it claims has the gumption of a desktop workstation.

Dell-m60The Precision M60 comes with a 1.7GHz Pentium M processor, Nvidia Quadro FX Go700 128MB graphics, a 15.4-inch wide aspect (1920 x 1200) screen, capacity for up to 2GB of DDR 266 memory and a 60GB hard drive.

The machine also comes with an integrated Gigabit controller, a SmartCard reader and a FireWire port.

It also has options for Intel wi-fi (802.11b), TruMobile (802/11b/g and 802.11 a/b/g) as well as optional Bluetooth support.

The sound system is AC97 with integrated stereo speakers, USB and the like.

Dell claims that the wide screen and the other power features make this the equivalent of many desktop workstations, and the price starts at $2,599 for a machine with a 1.4GHz Pentium M rather than a 1.7GHz Pentium M. ยต

* DELL ALSO SAID that it has signed an agreement with AT&T in the US for connection and service plans for cell data networks.
