Outfit claims SuSE, Opteron reduces costs by 60%

Feedster frenzy
Wednesday, 27 April 2005, 13:24
A FIRM called Feedster has reduced its operating hardware costs by 60 per cent by using SuSE Linux Enterprise Server and Opterons, Novell said today.

According to Novell, Feedster runs both MySQL for AMD 64 and Enterprise server to deliver its services. Nick Heyman, director of operations at Feedster said that SuSE Linux Enterprise Server performed better than Red Hat running on the Opteron.

Unfortunately, there are few details of comparisons in the release from Novell which led Feedster to make its choice. Heyman said his hardware vendor had recommended that the firm use SuSE Linux but we don't know who this hardware vendor is, either. ยต
