The number of bugs in a chip is relatively proportional to the number of transistors - Bob Colwell, former Intel chief architect
RIM HAS BLAMED AT&T for causing delays to its top-of-the-line BlackBerry phone.
According to RIM's co-CEO Mike Lazaridis the carrier wants to avoid the bad PR that Apple got when it released its 3G iPhone full of bugs earlier this year.
The BlackBerry Bold 9000 was supposed to go on sale this summer and has appeared in some foreign markets, but it's still not available in the US.
Lazaridis said that the phone is still undergoing the certification process in which AT&T tests all new handsets to make sure they work well on its wireless network.
Lazaridis said it was unlikely that the Bold would have the Iphone's problems. He said that RIM was meticulous about what its products do.
AT&T said only that the Bold would come out 'this year'. µ

Works great on the Rogers network up here in Canada with 3G coverage being quite good.

Interestingly enough on a trip down to Denver and San Francisco last week I had to turn 3G off as the Bold and AT&T didn't play well together. With 3G on I would get frequent data connection drops and very slow performance. Forced to 2G mode things worked perfectly.

Further interest is that 2 weeks ago when in Zurich the Bold worked flawlessly on the SwissCom and Orange networks with no issues with 3G on either.
