DFI outed with 790FX board

Hail our orange overclocking overlord
Wednesday, 24 October 2007, 15:19

THOSE gagging for some hot mainboard action will be pleased to know that new pictures of DFI's latest Lanparty extravaganza have surfaced.

The Lanparty UT 790FX-MR i based on the forthcoming 790FX chipset from DAAMIT, with support for Crossfire X and all those other funky technologies being bolted on. Like, uh, USB. Oh, and Hypertransport?

The board itself has the usual array of ports and slots, but expansion freaks will be pleased to know that not only are there three PCI-Express slots, there are three PCI slots for adding in Physx and X-fi expansion cards, should you so require them.

Gamers have been moaning for ages that PCI isn't dead yet, guv'nor, so good to hear that DFI is paying attention.

As always, the board looks garish but is sure to overclock like a trooper. Feast your eyes, friends. ยต

Three slots?

Three PCI-E slots? That isn't enough for Quad Crossfire, is it? Is Crossfire X not four cards?

CrossfireX

CrossfireX is designed to allow more then two cards in Crossfire. That means that it will work with 3 and 4 card Crossfire configurations.

CrossfireX

So, in order to get full quad Crossfire support, they're gonna have to cut out some PCI/PCI-E 1x slot(s) or use extended ATX form factor, huh? I hope they got with extended ATX. No one who builds a quad Crossfire rig does so in a small case.

2 SATA II for LESS Ultie Troubles?

Crossfire X, which ?if there are 3 seperate assembly areas & one firing line out, could be real power to very complex. i.e. large gb sixe game or fast workstation powerful,By Each Card Doing 1/3 of pixels, really lot of detailing may be result.? yet probably XP or server 2008 thing. I think 2 SATA II ports visible are to reduce total file thru put & make ULTIMATE on this board more like what has worked, Fast, Furious & low density of final output, due to lack of all but RAID ?0?. or no RAID at all by some complex mess default?meaning its on & unwanted goes fast, yet actual mechanism is still close to non-udma pata in resultant final thruput?.

Anyway its cut back storage system from UT DR G.

So up with pci e & if lucky few other scores, yet doubtful, in all ways compromise of old & new Crossfire X.
YEAH FOR CROSSFIRE X.
