Social networking for dummies

YAHOO HAS MADE an Iphone application that allows users to manage mobile messaging and social networking contacts with a single interface.

According to Marco Boerries, a Yahoo VP, OneConnect creates a unique socially connected address book for Iphone users.

"Rather than going to six sites, you need [a single] click on Pulse in OneConnect", explained Boerries.

The new application displays status updates for contacts on various social networking sites, including Facebook, Flickr, MySpace, Twitter and YouTube. OneConnect is also capable of integrating instant messaging, text messages and e-mail into one coherent conversation.

Oneconnect, designed with Yahoo's open-source Blueprint, is currently available free of charge in Apple's application store.

Future versions of the program are expected to support additional mobile devices. µ
