London Tube driver saved 1,000. And two men in gas masks

What's that all about then?

A DRIVER OF A LONDON TUBE train involved in last week's atrocities in London last Thursday led 1,000 people in his care to safety, it emerged.

Print title the Evening Standard ran a story about Jeff Porter, who was driving a Tube train towards Paddington Station when last Thursday's bombs hit three Underground trains simultanteously.

According to the Evening Standard, Mr Porter went back from his driver's cab the length of his train to make sure everyone was all right.

The Standard quoted Mr Porter as saying many people on his train had soot on their faces but "two guys had gas masks on. I don't know where they got them from."

Mr Porter's passengers were all led to safety. He has been given time off work, the Standard reports. but has declined the tranquilisers offered him. The newspaper said, however, that he is not quite sure when he will drive a train again. ยต
