Uses 1.9 version of the Gecko
Mon Jul 23 2007, 08:38
ONLINE MAGAZINE Techdo has managed to get its paws on a forthcoming version of Firefox 3.

It seems that the Firebadger will use version 1.9 of the Gecko rendering engine-which itself hasn't been released yet and the Cairo graphics layer.

As you would expect there are a number of improvements to performance, stability, and security, and it's also going to look a bit different.

While Firebadger 2 blocks Web sites that are potentially going to try to steal your personal information, Firefox 3 will block Web sites will install bad programs on your computer. This seems to involve some coordination with Google.

Content will be dealt with in different dialogue boxes. If it is MIME, a protocol, RSS, or is an application being downloaded. Under the bonnet, things are a bit more unified with the user having a consistent UI for selecting the actions they would like.

It will not matter if the content is a file being download or is a microformat embedded in a Web page it will be handled in the same way.

The mouse cursor will change and interact with microformatted content in the context of the Web page. More here with some pictures. µ
