Symantec out of date SSL certificates cause corporate flare up

THE IT CHIEFTAIN of a significant UK corporation told the INQUIRER he's fed up with Symantec for not renewing its SSL certificates.

The head of IT of the firm, who wants him and his company to remain anonymous for obvious reasons, said he'd notified Enterprise Custom Service that his firm had a certification issue with Fileconnect.

But he received back a chit from a Symantec support chap suggesting that he'd made a mistake and that "everything was in order" from its point of view - suggesting there was perhaps a problem with the customer's "Verisign". That caused the IT chieftain to send a note back saying he'd called about the problem and told them already it was a different problem altogether.

The IT manager sent the INQ screenshots which suggest that everything is far from hunky-dory.

Symantec UK was unable for comment at press time. ยต
