NETWORK APPLIANCE (Net App) took Sun Microsystems to court in Texas on the 5th of September, alleging it had breached many of its patents.

The filing said Sun had accused Net App of infringing its patents just a few months before it took over Storage Tek.

After fruitless negotiations, Net App claims it discovered that Sun's data processing systems and its Zettabyte File System (ZFS) breached its patents.

The patent numbers in question are 5,819,292; 6,892,211; 6,857,001; 7,714,352; 7,200,715; 7,162,486; 7,133,964; 5,403,639; 5,410,667 and 6,581,185. [That's enough numbers, Ed.]

Net App wants damages. µ
