Blue laser breakthrough can write data faster

Agnosticism towards Blu-ray, HD-DVD

JAPANESE website Nikkei.net reports that boffins at Sanyo have made a blue laser diode which will speed up data access.

The diode will allow write speeds to reach 6X for double layer disks. The laser diode is compatible with both HD and Blu-ray recorders. ยต
