Honduras bans violent videogames

Quake quashed, Doom doomed
Wednesday, 11 December 2002, 16:14
THE HONDURAN GOVERNMENT has given retailers in the country six months in which to sell their remaining stocks of violent computer games before such titles as Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Turok, Quake and Doom are banned completely.

The Honduran Congress unanimously passed the motion to ban violent games and toys in an attempt to address rising street crime in the Central American state.

The motion is expected to pass through the rest of the government unopposed before being signed into law by the president of the country, the gamesindustry.biz web site reports.

Unlike the ban on all games erroneously imposed in Greece, this one looks like becoming a reality... µ
