Foxconn comes out into the light

Hardware Roundup Special Ops improve their memory
Monday, 6 November 2006, 09:49
FOR SOME TIME now, Foxconn has been making OEM-level graphics cards for retail suppliers, but now they have decided to break out and launch its own branded kit. SysOpt has had a look at their latest offering, the Foxconn 7900GS and the verdict is promising, offering decent value for an entry level card. $200 will get you not only the card, but a gamepad and a software bundle worth about $120 to boot.

IT-review has reviewed Gainward's offering of the 7900GS and come up with a similar result as above, sticking it with a 'Value-4-Money' award.

With the PlayStation 3 and the Wii just around the corner, motion sensitive controllers seem to be all the rage at them moment. If you'd like to get in on the action for your PC, rather than forking out for a new console you might want to check out the eDimensional G-Pad Pro Gyroscopic Gamepad Review by Virtual-Hideout.

PC Perspective brave the dangers of frostbite to bring us the CoolIt Systems Freezone Peltier CPU Cooler Review. A water-cooling system that incorporates Thermoelectric cooling to actively chill the water, meaning you don't have to rely on low ambient temperatures to keep your CPU cool.

For those of us mere mortals without ridiculous sums of money to plough into the latest graphics cards, HardInfo has brought us the Nvidia GeForce 7950GT Roundup. The ASUS EN7950GT comes out as the overall winner, but of course it depends largely on your exact requirements and budget.

Phoronix has reviewed the OCZ Mega-Kart 8GB Flash Drive. For something that is roughly the size of a credit card, sporting 8GB of space is impressive and should be most people's basic portable memory requirements.

Sadly they don't arrive by rapelling down from a silent black helicopter, but according to Virtual-Hideout the OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Special Ops Urban Elite 2GB Memory looks like it can pretty much everything else. No matter how good it is, that name is still pretty damn ridiculous for a few sticks of memory. ยต
