G80 is getting close

Clear your GX2 inventory, please
Fri Sep 29 2006, 12:16
NVIDIA advised its partners to start getting rid of the GX2 and 7900 GTX cards from its inventory. It wants to prepare its loyal and disloyal birds for the new big thing, G80.

This card should be the performance king and has to take the crown from the GX2 card. ATI still doesn't have a efficient way to fight the Geforce 7900 GX2 and Nvidia is on the cusp of introducing the G80 one.

We also hear that Nvidia will also gather the journos at its Californian headquarters to teach them about the geeky part of the G80 as well. This should take place in the middle of next month so we are looking in Novemberish launch, it seems.

We still only know a few details about G80, the only thing that we are quite sure of is that it is a 90 nanometre chip and we can also hundred per cent confirm it is not a 65 nanometre chip either. µ
