PROVING that it still exists, at least in Europe, Packard Bell has released two media players.

The first is called the Eclipse and plays MP3, WAV and WMA audio, MP4, WMV and XviD movie clips, onto a 2.2-inch screen with 65,000 colours.

According to www.electronista.com the beast's lithium-ion battery should last through 22 hours of audio, but Packard Bell has not said how long its video will play for. The Eclipse comes in 2, 4 and 8GB model and can manage voice recording and FM radio.

The second model is called Fresh and aims to be cheaper than anything else on the market. Although it only comes in 1, and 2 GB models, and can't do video, radio, it is only being sold for €30 and €40. It uses a AAA battery for power.
