Vista spam tells lies

It is not cheap
Fri Dec 22 2006, 08:56
AN EMAIL which claims to offer cheap copies of Vista is a scam.

Spammers have been sending out emails offering cheap versions of the operating system for (US)$319 less than the retail price.

According to Paul Ducklin, head of technology at security firm Sophos, those who are dumb enough to fall for the scam are finding their credit card details stolen or, at best, end up with a pirated version of the operating system. The spam uses images instead of text, which makes it harder to detect by traditional anti-spam technologies.

If the price of Vista is not an arm and a leg, it can't be true. µ
