Watch out for DRM on high res Terminator 2

Otherwise, you're terminated
Mon Jun 02 2003, 11:06
A SOURCE WARNS European importers of DVDs to beware of a US version of Terminator 2 that's out over there.

Disk Two has a superhigh definition version of the film in Windows Media 9 on it, but it incorporates a cunning type of digital rights management (DRM).

An importer of US DVDs warns that it checks if you are in the USA or Canada, possibly by using IP addresses, and if you're not, you're terminated.

It doesn't matter whether you've a region free drive or cunning software either, apparently.

Isn't it about time the World Trade Organisation got on the case about this regional DVD rubbish? It's about time the industry had its bottom kicked hard on this scam, which lets you buy stuff if you're visiting North America but won't let you play it. µ
