Apple coughs up money for Garageband name

Garageband speaks unto Garageband
Wednesday, 7 January 2004, 11:58
GARAGEBAND said Apple has paid it money for the limited use of the name, er, Garageband.

According to Garageband, which claims to be the home of the definitive charts of independent music, Apple signed a deal in April last year to license the name.

It has paid Garageband a one time fee to use the name Garageband in the Apple iLife suite launched earlier this week.

But Garageband - are you still with us - will keep its name for what it described as its "vast range of products and services".

In a statement, Garageband said it was "excited" to share its name with Apple.

It added that musicians can create music on Apple Garageband and use it on Garageband's site.

Got that? µ
