AMD ships more chips to China

BIG CHINESE FIRM Founder Technology said it would launch AMD64 processor-based desktop PCs throughout China in early October.

Founder sold 2.5 million PCs in 2005, making it China's second-largest PC maker, according to IDC's reckoning.

AMD said the sales agreement would begin with desktop systems and expand to cover both the notebook and the server markets in the future.

At a news conference in Beijing today, Qi Dongfeng, president of Founder, said the agreement would contribute to the "healthy, robust development of the information technology industry in China." ยต
