Nvidia licenses Transmeta tech
Coughs up $35 mill

NVIDIA SAID IT WANTS TO license Transmeta Corp's Longrun and Longrun2 technologies and a few other bits and bobs. It will pay $25 million to use the intellectual property.
Satan Clara-based Transmeta said Nvidia is out to get its power management expertise and can have 'em so long as it coughs up.
Transmeta develops and licenses microprocessor intellectual property. It said it made a profit of some $214,000 in its latest financial quarter which has just ended.
So that $25 million should come in handy. µ

I think NVIDIA has just thrown a smoke grenade to distract us from the real trouble they have.
Riiight. 
Hopefully you're not a business major...
Given their problem with HEAT related failure, this move is i think a must, Huahahahaha.....

But seriusly. This move if played correctly, could help NV in 2 front:

1. Erradicate problem with the current problematic chip.

2. Saving R&D cost especially for yield AND thermal analysis for it's new line of chips. Especially for their lower node litho.

Perhaps it is needed for their new x86 compatible CPU.
