AMD has a pretty respectable list of top tier mobo makers for Athlon XP, and here's what we know so far, backing up a story we wrote last week.
Be prepared to have your mind dazzled by the cunning mobo manufacturer subterfuge of long and meaningless part numbers and BIOS numbers. Here we go...
The Gigabyte GA-7DX rev 4.3, is an ATX board using the AMD-761 chipset and using BIOS revision F5D. The Gigabyte GA-7ZMMH rev 3.0, a micro ATX motherboard, uses the KM=133A and the F4B chipset.
The Asus A7V266 rev 1.07 uses the KT-266 and uses the BIOS revision 1002 Beta 005.
MSI has a total of three Athlon XP boards. The MS06440 rev 3.0 uses the KT-133A and BIOS 3.0; the MS-6380 rev 1.0A uses the KT-266 and BIOS rev 1.50, while the MS-6304 is a micro ATX board using the KM-133A chipset.
FIC's board, the AD11, will come in rev 1.2A, uses the AMD-761 chipset and the BIOS rev catchily known as the ABA419.
Biostar has two boards. The M7MIA revb 2.1 uses the IGD4 chipset and comes with BIOS rev MIA0927F. The M7V1B rev 1.2 uses the KT-266.
ECS also has two boards. The K7VTA3 rev 1.0A uses the KT-266, and BIOS version 1.11A, while the K75SA rev 3.0 uses the SiS 735, and BIOS rev 010921.
That's enough numbers and BIOSes. Are you wondering about Abit? Don't wonder too much longer - we've a separate story coming up in the day with less numbers and letters of the alphabet. ยต
