Dell set to charge $50 recycling fee

The cost of lost of labour
Thu Jul 10 2003, 01:02
MIGHTY DELL, after having been exposed for using slave labour to recycle its poisonous PCs, has put a new spin on things by launching a recycling programme for its large customers.

And the kind-hearted fellows will only charge $49 for the peace of mind that comes for believing that your PC will be dumped without polluting some Chinese river, or ending up in a landfill site near you.

The company called its little initiative "Asset Recovery" and again promised to stop using prisoners at Atwater federal penitentiary in Merced County to recycle its scrap PCs.

One woman from the National Recycling Coalition, told AP she was "thrilled" with the scheme. She didn't say she''d cough up the fifty bucks to assuage her own conscience though.

Here's one reader's take on the matter. µ
