MAKER OF overheating games consoles, Microsoft is cuddling up to the BBC in the hope of installing its content on its Xbox 360.

According to the Times, the Vole has a cunning plan to launch a digital television and video service in Europe.

At the heart of the plan is the idea of turning the Xbox 360 video games machine into a digital entertainment hub, offering films, TV shows and high-definition programmes. It already does this in the US.

Last year the BBC signed an agreement with Microsoft to explore ways of developing its digital services. The Vole is now trying to get its paws on the BBC's huge library of content and smaller library of high-definition programmes.
